compost systems? - Living Lightly

compost systems?
I love this comm already. Can anybody recommend an inexpensive source for composting systems. Most of the sites I've found seem too expensive to invest in. (i.e. I can build it for cheaper if I can find the time).

My father does that using nothing more than a spare plastic trash can with a few small holes drilled (or punched) for vents. There are also sites like this one or Urban Composting Project have intros that can help, with mini FAQs (google for "composting faq" for a lot more) about common problems.

I've heard very good things about vermiculture, especially if you're short on space, but most of them aren't inexpensive for my budget. They seemed worth the cost, but it's still going to be more expensive than just building boxy things and buying some red worms. The cheapest on the site I looked at were I think around $100 for pretty much a full setup. I considered getting one, but now I've found out that the CSA I'm joining welcomes shareholderes to bring their home compostables to add to the farm's bin. So no messing around with worms for me :-)
